Reducing Clauses to Phrases, Phrases to Single Words



The clauses and phrases should be simpler and shorter, the "which clause" can often be shortened to a simple adjective. There are some examples to define it:
Ø  Smith College, which was discovered in 1871, is the premier all-women's college in the United States.
Ø  Discovered in 1871, Smith College is the premier all-women's college in the United States.
Ø  Citizens who knew what was going on voted him out of office.
Ø  Knowledgeable citizens voted him out of office.
